Greek Vase - Belly Amphora

Located at the base of the Acropolis in the Plaka, the oldest section of Athens, is a charming workshop and gallery where artisan Sofia Gkani creates intricately detailed replicas of classical Greek vessels. Beautifully hand-painted, Sofia meticulously reproduces Corinthian, Geometric, Red or Black Figure designs on each unique terracotta piece. Each vessel is signed and numbered by the artist.

A belly amphora does not have a distinguished neck; instead, the belly reaches the mouth in a continuous curve. This shape was rarely used after the mid-5th century BC.
