Celadon Plate with Crane Detail
$150.00
- The pattern of this plate is inspired by the famed Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392) in Korea. It is said that the finest Korean celadon was made during this time and the Crane pattern is seen on various vases, cups, plates and cosmetic boxes. The glaze is highly transparent and has the luminosity of mother-of-pearl.
In 1962, one such Celadon vase from this period had been designated the 68th National Treasure of Korea. The vase is housed in the Gansong Art Museum, the first modern private museum in Korea and founded by Jeon Hyeongpil in 1938.
