This jigsaw puzzle features details from three different mosaics at the Getty Villa in Malibu, California. The centerpiece is a section of a magnificent inlaid mosaic reproduction of a first-century BC pavement from the Villa dei Papiri at Herculaneum. The animals and portraits of the four seasons in the corners are from a Gallo-Roman stone-and-glass floor mosaic (AD 150-200), and the vertical bars down the sides are taken from a mesmerizing Roman floor mosaic (AD 115-150) with concentric bands of black and white triangles that create an optical illusion.
