In the Bajio area between the state boundaries of Guanajuato and Michoacan, the Chupicuaro culture flourished a few centuries prior to the Christian era. Their ceramics were characterized by decorations in an elegant combination of colors. This globular-shaped gourd has circular geometric motifs painted inside panels separated with broken lines or rhombus-shaped bands.
