An artisan from Minnesota, David Royce started blowing glass at the age of fifteen. His simple organic forms set the stage for a combination of contrasting techniques. The vessels and glass objects have a sandblasted surface with a luminous semi-transparency, contrasted by sections of opaque color in dynamic, asymmetrical patterns. In some pieces the opaque areas are accented by carving. When the glass is illuminated from the bottom, each piece takes on a colorful inner glow.
This handcrafted glass stone measures 4 3/4 inches high and has a depth of 1 3/4 inches. As each piece is individually made, the color patterns may vary slightly from the bowl pictured, but the overall color scheme will be as shown.
