This book examines one of the greatest artistic projects of Peter Paul Rubens: the design of twenty tapestries on the mystery of the Eucharist, for the Convent of the Barefoot Royals in Madrid. The scenes of the series show the wealth of pictorial resources of the painter, his inventiveness and vitality of his work. The publication also explains the restoration of six major design sketches for the series belonging to the funds from the Prado Museum. The catalog accompanying the exhibition is composed of three essays by Anne T. Woollett, Ana Garcia, curator of the Monastery of the Barefoot Royals, National Heritage, and Alejandro Vergara, Chief Curator of Flemish and Northern School Painting Museum Prado and curator of the exhibition. It also includes a text by the authors of the José restoration of the Fountain, George Bisacca and Jonathan Graidorge Lamour (restoration of media), and Maria Antonia Lopez Asiain (restoration of the pictorial layer) - and a technical study of the Prado six paintings by Alejandro Vergara, in which brands, underdrawing and inscriptions are studied.
