Sakountala ou L’abandon Sculpture - Camille Claudel

This early work refers directly to Camille’s troublesome relationship with Auguste Rodin. The dramatic plaster sculpture was first exhibited at the Salon of 1888. The title Sakountala refers to the main character in a narrative by the fifth century Hindu poet Kalidasa.
