Ceramic Dog Vessel in Peruvian Mochica Style

Drawing inspiration from the artistic style of the Moche people, also known as Mochica, Peru's Walter Jose Acosta creates a spellbinding ceramic reproduction of a huaco vessel depicting a spotted dog. This creature symbolized the profound connection between the living and the departed in Andean mythology. Bring cultural significance and unparalleled beauty to your surroundings with this irresistible decorative accent.

Walter Jose Acosta took his first steps into the world of arts and crafts when he joined a workshop at just 16 years old. His future course was set after observing the ceramicists at work, inspiring him to learn all he could about design and techniques for crafting historic Moche pottery reproductions. “The message I want my art to convey is that our ancestors crafted beautiful and complex pieces with only their hands as tools, without the kind of technology we have nowadays. Through their work they expressed all that they saw and wondered about from their environment, their thoughts, and beliefs.”
