This is the sixth in a series of books that document the vast collection of Greek vases in the Getty Museum. In this volume are eight essays in English, German, or Italian that shed light on a number of objects from the Museum's fine collection of antiquities.
Included is the identification of a new Corinthian painter by C.W. Neeft, professor at the University of Amsterdam; the publication of three Caeretan hydriai by J. M. Hemelrijk, professor emeritus at the University of Amsterdam; and the reconstruction of an important early krater by the Berlin Painter, discussed by Mary B. Moore, professor of art history at Hunter College, CUNY. Also in this volume is a treatment by Anneliese Kossatz-Deissmann of the Archäologisches Institut, Universität Würzburg, of a parody of a phlyax comedy on a South Italian vase, as well as essays by Petra Reichert-Südbeck, an independent scholar in Germany; Glenn Markoe, curator of Classical and Near Eastern art at the Cincinnati Art Museum; Flavia Zisa, an independent scholar in Florence, Italy; and Ruth Lindner, a scholar at the Universität Würzburg.
"The whole volume is a veritable box of delights."
