Three golden fleurs-de-lis are visible against the blue oval shield at the center of the armorial tapestry that was adapted for this pouch design. The radiant head of the ancient Greek god of the sun, Apollo, shines upon the French royal crown, coat of arms, and the scepter of Louis XV, who reigned from 1715 to 1774. Handwoven in multiple editions, these costly tapestries hung over doorways in the royal palaces.
