This cotton canvas pouch features a "System of Colours" diagram by artist and engraver Moses Harris. The hand-painted print is from his book, The Natural System of Colour, published around 1776 in England. Harris is said to be the inventor of the color wheel, and his hand tinted etchings are possibly the earliest depictions of this type. The work is derived from the three primary colors: red, yellow and blue.
