Located at the base of the Acropolis in the Plaka, the oldest section of Athens, is a charming workshop and gallery where artisan Sofia Gkani creates intricately detailed replicas of classical Greek vases and vessels. Beautifully hand-painted, Sofia meticulously reproduces Corinthian, Geometric, Red or Black Figure designs on each unique terracotta piece. Each vessel is signed and numbered by the artist.
This Greek vessel is a reproduction of a kylix, a two handled bowl with a footed stem that was used for drinking wine. This particular replica features the death of Achilles in a Geometric design on the face of the cup.
