Chantilly Kakiemon Collection Scarf

The Chantilly Kakiemon collection celebrates an 18th-Century French porcelain dish and wine bottle in the J. Paul Getty Museum's decorative arts collection. Their ornamentation was inspired by Japanese Kakiemon ware - a distinctive style of porcelain decorated with sparse asymmetrical motifs rendered with limited colors on a white background. Elements such as the shishi (mythical lion-like creature) on the bottle cooler were copied directly from motifs on known Japanese examples.
