A golden arrow shot by Cupid causes Apollo to fall in love and pursue the nymph Daphne. As Apollo reaches for Daphne she is transformed into a laurel bush. Daphne is generally shown fleeing, with her raised arms transforming into branches of the laurel. Apollo the god of light, is often wearing a crown of laurel leaves pursing or embracing Daphne as she transforms.
